EU-Ecuador free trade

EU-Ecuador free trade
The free trade agreement between the EU and Ecuador came into effect on 1 January 2017. The agreement eliminates tariffs for all industrial and fisheries products, increases market access for agricultural products, offers opportunities in public procurement and services sectors, and further reduces technical barriers to trade. The agreement replaces the EU's earlier one-way preferences for imports from Ecuador under the Generalised Scheme of Preferences that the EU grants to developing countries. Other Andean partners – Colombia and Peru – have been benefitting from similar trade agreements since 2013.
